Dr. Chadwick C. (Chad) Prodomos is President, Illinois Sportsmedicine and Orthopaedic Centers, and Medical Director of the Illinois Orthopaedic Foundation, (a 501c3 Illinois Not for Profit Corporation). His medical specialty of Orthopaedics includes surgery and treatment involving the musculoskeletal system, which can entail degenerative conditions, trauma, sports injury, tumors, and congenital issues. He is particularly concerned about providing accurate state of the art background on the latest status and appropriate use of Stem Cell treatment, to put into perspective some of the recent hype about its use. The following is a summary of a response received after one of his recent presentations: “Dr. Prodomos spoke about an alternative to joint replacement surgery for arthritis and sports injuries. The attendees found it to be informative and hopeful, with the indication there are sometimes good options to more drugs and surgery. Dr. Prodomos spent a lot of time answering questions and talking about his approach to treatment, which was appreciated by the attendees.”
The Illinois Orthopaedic Foundation, for which Dr. Prodomas is Medical Director, has one of the largest U.S. stem cell databases, with over 2600 injections and with several years of follow-up. Studies of rotator cuff and knee injections currently are being readied for publication. In addition, he is Editor in Chief of “The Anterior Cruciate Ligament: Basic Science and Reconstruction.”
Dr. Prodomos received his AB from Princeton in 1975, and his MD from Johns Hopkins in 1979. He was a Surgery Resident at The University of Chicago Hospitals and Clinics from 1979-81 and at Rush-Presbyterian-St. Luke’s Medical Center from 1981-84 He also held an Orthopaedic Surgery and Sports Medicine Fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital and was a Clinical and Research Fellow at Harvard Medical School in 1984-85. He was Board Certified in Orthopaedic Surgery beginning in 1987 and most recently in 2016. Prior to his current positions he was an Assistant Professor at Rush Medical College in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery.
