Best known as Colson Whitehead, he has authored six novels. His most recent work, The Underground Railroad, is a 2016 National Book Award-winning novel. Mr. Whitehead is also a MacArthur Fellow, a Guggenheim Fellow and a Pulitzer Prize finalist.
