During this edX online course, local participants are invited to join course Professor New in Chicago at the Poetry Foundation on January 31st for what promises to be a lively and educational discussion.

Professor New's visit will be an opportunity for local Harvard alumni and the greater Chicago community to gather and discuss this significant American poet and his works. Elisa New is the Powell M. Cabot Professor of American Literature at Harvard University where she teaches classic American literature.

Following the 3-week Whitman course module, participants will have the opportunity to sign up for the full Poetry in America edX course slated to launch in September 2014.
